Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend

Who doesn’t love diamonds? The song “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” was introduced in the Broadway musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and was sung by Carol Channing. The song was written by Jule Styne.
But, it is probably best remembered for the movie version sung by Marilyn Monroe. Monroe plays Lorilei Lee, whose father does not want her to marry for money. When he finds that she is involved with a British mine owner, he cancels her line of credit and she seeks work in nightclub where she performs this song:

Have you ever seen this movie? It is about 2 show girls. One becomes involved with the son of a rich man (who she calls Daddy.. he is not her actual father). The father of the man she is involved with hires a detective to follow her to prove that she is unfaithful to his son and is only after his money. When this appears to be the case, the son (Daddy) cuts off his allowance to her and she gets a job in a night club to get money. In the end, the son decides she loves him and the father gives his blessing. It is one of my favorite movies.
