1976 Camaro
The Transformers Movie has sent car enthusiasts in search of old Camaros to restore. Online forums have seen posts about paint, rear spoiler, front spoiler and engine parts.
The Chevrolet Camaro went on sale on September 29, 1966 and was designed to compete with the Ford Mustang. The car had a similar platform and components as the Pontiac Firebird which was also introduced in 1967.
The second generation Camaro was introduced in 1970 and continued production until 1981. The car was heavier due to an increase in width and a change in styling. Road & Track magazine picked the Camaro as one of the ten best cars in 1971.
The third generation of Camaros was produced from 1981 to 1992. These cars offered fuel injection and hatchback bodies. The popular IROC-Z Camaro was introduced in 1985. The fourth generation was produced from 1993 to 2002 with a larger engine and revised interior. Production stopped on the Camaro due to declining sales and plant overcapacity.
The fifth generation Camaro was approved in 2006 and went on sale in 2009. This fifth generation Camaro can be seen in the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie in theaters today.
