My Top Computer Movies

June7

If you love anything computer and you get a thrill just installing new ram, then these movies are for you. Of course, if you are truly a computer geek, you may find that these movies have major flaws and are not really plausible, but hey, they are a lot of fun!

1. Sneakers – Robert Redford makes security systems. He and his team must break in and still a piece of important equipment. Entertaining and fun.
2. Independence Day – Who knew that a guy with a MAC could inject a computer virus into enemy space ships. It works and saves the world.
3. The Net – Sandra Bullock has her whole life erased. This is everyone’s biggest fear about the internet.
4. Pirates of Silicon Valley – This made for TV movie about Bill Gates and Steve Jobs was well made and very interesting. Read the book for more information.
5. Tron – Classic Disney film about going inside the computer. Kind of cheesy now, but a big hit back then.
6. War Games – One of my favorite Matthew Broderick films. A kid hacks into a defense system. Could happen.
7. The Matrix – I hated this movie. The computer stuff was interesting, but the acting was bad and story convuluted.
8. 2001: A Space Odyssey – HAL takes over!
9. I, Robot. New robots with positronic brains.
10. Office Space – Very FUNNY! Save a few pennies and you can make millions!
