Odd Ogg
April23
Odd Ogg was a strange toy from the 1960s. It was made by the Ideal Toy Corporation in 1962. Odd Ogg was half frog and half turtle. The object of the toy was to roll plastic balls toward it. If you rolled a ball right under its belly, Odd Ogg would roll forward. If you rolled the ball off to one side, Odd Ogg would roll backwards, open its mouth and stick out his tongue.
If you have this toy somewhere in your closet, you can sell it for $250 – $500!

Wow, Odd Ogg looks just fantastically. The viewer becomes filled with the positive energy at a glance. Thus my Candleday http://candleday.wordpress.com became your fan. Thank you for the help to return the smile.
I have one of these but I don’t have the little balls anymore

I remember getting this toy for Christmas back in the 1960’s. I had so much fun with this toy!
I hated Odd Ogg because my last name was Ogg until 1968 and had to take all the jokes, insults and grief from everyone in high school. I was already very insecure and the introduction of Odd Ogg was just the cherry on the inferiority cake.
I have ODD-OGG in perfect condition except the 4 balls are a little discolored. He works just fine with the 2 D batteries. I am wondering how much I should charge for him? I am thinking of puting him on CRAIGS LIST. Any interest would be appreciated.
I never knew anyone with an Odd-Ogg – it was a pretty much a flop as a toy as far as sales go, and only made it through one Christmas. I remember the theme song though, it stuck with me all these years -”Odd-Ogg, Odd-Ogg, not a turtle not a frog”. It was undefined as a toy, and so few must have bought them. We used to joke about it, but I guess the laugh’s on us, if we had one we could certainly sell it for a good price!
I wish some toy company would bring back Odd Ogg, exactly as he appeared in the 60s. He may have been a flop in toy sales, but he was a wonderful toy. I got one for Christmas when I was 7, and played with him until I was in my teens. If he was advertised as an exact replica of the vintage Odd Ogg, I know he would do well.
I loved (LOVE) my ODD OGG(S)… Bob, you have a treasure!! By any chance does any one have one with BLUE eyes?
I received one for Christmas 1962 and wore it out. I have since collected six or seven of them in various conditions (one is near perfect, including the box and original balls, and yes, one is the blue-eyed version). I’m not sure why anyone needs more than one, but they sit on a special shelf and look pretty cool in a herd.
That is my last name…..i never had one…….i am sure it would cost alot to buy one now……..if money was no object…i would……
I keep getting requests for a recording of the original Odd Ogg television commercial. If anyone knows of a source, I would be most appreciative.
