Love, American Style

Who can forget the catchy theme song for this television show? Love, American Style aired on ABC from 1969 to 1974. For two season it was part of the Friday night lineup that included The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Room 222 and The Odd Couple. It was a one hour show that featured different stories about romance each week. Different actors were used in the episodes.

Aaron Spelling, who created the series, would often use failed parts of other pilot TV shows for the series. After Garry Marshall created Happy Days, he unsuccessfully tried to market it for a series. Spelling used the pilot in one of the Love, American Style spots. After the success of the movie American Graffiti and the Broadway musical Grease, ABC decided to air Happy Days and it became a huge hit.
