Films on Location

January5

So many times we are led to believe that movies are actually filmed in the location mention in the movie. Not so. Movie Producers often seek to find the cheapest place to film a movie, not necessarily the right place. For instance, remember the TV show Northern Exposure, set in Alaska. This was actually filmed in Washington State in a tiny town called Roslyn. “Message in a Bottle” starring Kevin Costner was set in the Outer Banks, but was filmed in three different locations in Maine. “High School Musical”, set in New Mexico, was filmed in Utah.

Next time you watch a movie, and want to know where it is filmed, wait for the ending credits and see which cities get thanked!

Movie Review – The World of Henry Orient

January5

I have decided to dust off my old collections of movies that I loved growing up in the 60s, 70s and 80s and share a few of them with you.
The World of Henry Orient (1964)

Starring: Peter Sellers (Henry Orient), Angela Lansbury (Isabel Boyd), Tom Bosley (Frank Boyd), Merrie Spaeth (Marian ‘Gil’ Gilbert), Tippy Walker (Valerie ‘Val’ Boyd)

Plot Synopsis: Henry Orient is a concert pianist with a huge ego. Two of his biggest fans are 14 year old girls – Gil and Val. Gil and Val attempt to follow Henry all other New York City in hopes of meeting him. This causes chaos in Henry’s life until it is finally put to an end by Val’s mother.

My Thoughts: This movie is very entertaining. Peter Sellers does some of his best work in this movie. It would be a great remake with an updated cast and situations.
