Jay North

Who doesn’t remember that cute kid - Dennis the Menace? Dennis the Menace was played by Jay North. Jay was born August 3, 1951 in Hollywood, California. Jay auditioned, along with 500 other kids, for the part of Dennis in 1959. Jay was selected for the part by the creator of Dennis the Menace, Hank Ketcham. Jay appeared in 146 episodes in four years. During this time he also appeared in a number of variety TV shows.

After Dennis was canceled, Jay appeared in two other TV shows, but then found that offers were drying up. He did the voice of Bamm-Bamm for the Flintstones int he 1960s but had a hard time adjusting for child star to regular person. After bouts with drugs, weight gain and several divorces, he successfully completed drug rehabilitation and now helps other child actors through the company A Minor Consideration.

Jay North is so over… he played Dennis the Menace where his real life version of “Dennis” was below par when compared to the daily comic strip… let his go…its over!!! while you are at it, you may as well let Elvis, Jessie James and all the other dead people go…

  2. Sarah Says:
